Amy Morton

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Amy joined OSCF in 2016. The move to RI was prompted by a career advancement opportunity; Amy is an Orthopedics Research Engineer working for RIH and Brown University. Though crossfitting since 2013, it wasn’t until coming to OSCF that Amy’s competitive game flourished.

As a life-long athlete growing up, Amy excelled in rugby, representing her province in back-to-back National golds and playing for the Queen’s Golden Gaels in University. After graduate school, Amy suffered an ACL rupture and had reconstructive surgery, leading her to the perfect rehabilitation program: Crossfit.

Falling in love with Crossfit, Amy continued to train and coach through her pregnancy with her now 4-year-old son.

Ray has been a life long athlete, lettering in Varsity Football and Track in High School. He went on to play for the Men’s Rugby Team at URI, where he studied Kinesiology, playing in two division title matches. After playing for URI, he played for the USA Division 1’s Boston Rugby Football Club, making it to the National Elite 8, with a 5th place nationwide finish.

In the Winter of 2013, after attending the Elite Training Camp at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center, Ray made selection for the USA Maccabiah Rugby Team, and represented the United States at the 2013 Maccabiah World Games in Israel. Against teams from around the world, USA brought home the Bronze medal.

Coach Ray began CrossFitting as a way to stay in shape for rugby, but over the years, his focus shifted primarily to CrossFit.  After three years off the pitch, Ray joined the Newport Rugby Club in Fall, 2016. He started every game as a flanker and helped earn the team a 7-1 season record, taking first place in New England. Starting each game in the fall of 2017, Ray helped Newport win the New England division for a second time with an 8-1 season record.

Ray has dedicated his life to fitness, sports, and coaching athletes achieve their goals. His experience includes CrossFit, military-style Boot Camp fitness (former member of the United States Air Force), Olympic Weightlifting, weight-loss, strength and mobility training.

The programing for Ocean State CrossFit is original and created by Coach Ray. It challenges the most elite level athletes along side brand new first-timers, in a safe, inclusive, supportive and challenging environment.
