Rebecca has had a passion for movement and exercise as long as she can remember.  A soccer, tennis and basketball player through high school, she joined the women’s rugby team at URI. It was no surprise to anyone when she graduated from URI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology.

Shortly after graduation, Becky missed the training and camaraderie she experienced as a part of an athletic team, and she took her first CrossFit class. She has been hooked ever since.

Becky became a CrossFit Level One Coach, in addition to her full time job as an exercise specialist in a corporate fitness facility.

Life has gotten busier following the births of her three little boys, but she credits the flexibility and scalability of CrossFit, in which she regularly participated throughout all three pregnancies, with allowing her to stay fit and quickly regain her strength, postpartum.

CrossFit has played a substantial role in Becky's life before, during and after pregnancies, as a means to stay both physically and mentally fit!

Becky holds CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kids certifications.

Ray has been a life long athlete, lettering in Varsity Football and Track in High School. He went on to play for the Men’s Rugby Team at URI, where he studied Kinesiology, playing in two division title matches. After playing for URI, he played for the USA Division 1’s Boston Rugby Football Club, making it to the National Elite 8, with a 5th place nationwide finish.

In the Winter of 2013, after attending the Elite Training Camp at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center, Ray made selection for the USA Maccabiah Rugby Team, and represented the United States at the 2013 Maccabiah World Games in Israel. Against teams from around the world, USA brought home the Bronze medal.

Coach Ray began CrossFitting as a way to stay in shape for rugby, but over the years, his focus shifted primarily to CrossFit.  After three years off the pitch, Ray joined the Newport Rugby Club in Fall, 2016. He started every game as a flanker and helped earn the team a 7-1 season record, taking first place in New England. Starting each game in the fall of 2017, Ray helped Newport win the New England division for a second time with an 8-1 season record.

Ray has dedicated his life to fitness, sports, and coaching athletes achieve their goals. His experience includes CrossFit, military-style Boot Camp fitness (former member of the United States Air Force), Olympic Weightlifting, weight-loss, strength and mobility training.

The programing for Ocean State CrossFit is original and created by Coach Ray. It challenges the most elite level athletes along side brand new first-timers, in a safe, inclusive, supportive and challenging environment.
